Aboriginal Arts Research

In progress - Survey related to Aboriginal Languages Research Project

We are currently surveying about 1400 previous grant applicants on the use of Aboriginal languages. This is one of the first steps in a research project, called “We have to hear their voices.” The goal of the project is to help us better understand the connection between Aboriginal languages and arts. Besides the survey, we’ll gather information from Aboriginal communities, focus groups, consultations with Aboriginal language experts and artists, among others. The project will result in a report on the state of Aboriginal language use in the Aboriginal arts community – to be released in spring 2010.

This document is a report on the Aboriginal Arts Administration Forum. This two-and-a-half-day forum was hosted by the Aboriginal Leadership and Management Programs at the Banff Centre. This project was funded by the Aboriginal Arts Office at the Canada Council for the Arts and the Alberta Association of Colleges and Technical Institutes.
