Endowments and Prizes

The Endowments and Prizes Section of the Canada Council for the Arts awards prizes and fellowships every year to over 200 Canadian artists and scholars for their contributions to the arts, humanities and sciences in Canada. Many of these prizes are privately endowed and are given in perpetuity in memory of the donors. Others, such as the Governor General's Literary Awards are both funded and administered by the Canada Council for the Arts.

The endowed prizes are funded entirely through income generated by the capital. Therefore the amount of these prizes is subject to the performance of financial markets and the frequency and/or value of the prize may vary. Please consult the program guidelines to confirm the current prize amount.
