Governor General's Awards in Visual and Media Arts: Announcement of Winners and Awards Ceremony

ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS AND AWARDS CEREMONY
Date: Thursday, 23 March 2000
Time: 9:30 a.m.
Place: Rideau Hall, Ottawa
The winners of the first-ever Governor General's Awards in Visual and Media Arts will be presented with a medallion by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, and with a $10,000 prize by Jean-Louis Roux, Chairman of the Canada Council for the Arts. As a tribute to the creation of Nunavut, the Canada Council will also present each laureate with a sculpture by a Nunavut artist.
The laureates will be available for interviews at Rideau Hall immediately following the ceremony. To pre-schedule interview time, please contact Diane Chaperon-Lor at (416) 922-4459.
The names of the seven laureates, together with background information, will be available on this web site (under "What's New") as of 9:30 a.m. on 23 March.
