Fenn Gordon and Menno Plukker

It’s about building relationships. It takes time and lots of patience to build international relationships. Some tours come together in a matter of months, but some take as many as 10 years.

To succeed you need to do you homework on the markets and the individual presenters. What aesthetics and disciplines do they prefer? What types of engagements and opportunities are available? Where does your work fit in? You need to be able to show that your work offers something unique within your chosen market and aesthetic.

 Artist insight

“Red Sky is interested in creating an innovative approach to touring. We are not interested in the standard gig, that is to say, do the show and move on, but rather to find new ways to tour into communities based on our own Indigenous cultural principles – to build links nation to nation, and Indigenous to non-Indigenous.”
– Sandra Laronde, Artistic Director, Red Sky Contemporary Dance Theatre
