The company Montréal Danse, under the artistic direction of Kathy Casey, is devoted to the creation of original works by pre-eminent choreographers while simultaneously nurturing and developing emerging talent. Montréal Danse, with its superb dancers, is a unique convergence point for the development of bold and immensely varied works that captivate, move, entertain and challenge. The company’s programs combine and juxtapose choreographic voices from around the world to create powerful, intelligent and emotional evenings that have brought audiences to their feet in North and South America, Europe and Asia. La compagnie Montréal Danse has created and produced nearly 40 works with almost as many choreographers since its inception in 1986. The company has collaborated with numerous Canadian artists as well as choreographers from France, Belgium, the United States, Germany, Japan and South Korea. |

Artistic Director
Born in North Carolina, Kathy Casey began her dance career in 1979 with the Chicago Moving Company. Settled in New York in 1980, she danced for many choreographers before joining the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company in 1984. In 1989, she became a member of Susan Marshall & Company, with whom she had collaborated since 1981. Welcomed by Montréal Danse in 1991, she was appointed artistic director of the company in March 1996. A major portion of her work now is choosing choreographers with unique and captivating voices and then assisting them as Artistic Director in the creation of their works on the company.

Big Bang (2004) - La compagnie Montréal Danse's flexible Big Bang program incorporates works from its repertory of shorter pieces. Three works are chosen from among six options to suit the communities visited. The current repertory is made up of the pieces The Heavens, Burning with Hours by José Navas (Montreal), Desirabilis by Karine Ponties (Belgium), One Second by Ae-Soon Ahn (South Korea), Je ne m’en souviens pas très bien by Estelle Clareton (Montreal), Solitudes by Dominique Porte (Montreal) and Théodore Corner of Adam by Jean-Pierre Mondor (Montreal).
