The Word On The Street

Each September, on the last Sunday of the month, the streets of Halifax, Kitchener, Toronto and Vancouver come alive with words.
Thanks to The Word On The Street festival, citizens spend hours browsing in the sun, participating in creative workshops and attending readings by Canadian authors. They also take advantage of the opportunity to buy the latest releases: poetry collections, detective novels, children’s books, how-to guides and magazines.
In 2009, 275,000 Canadians took part in the event. The 2010 edition promises to be just as popular, with Saskatoon signing on to stage its own The Word On The Street.
