School children across the country cheered on Canada’s athletes in the 2010 Paralympic Games. In doing so, they learned about inclusion, resisting stereotypes and meeting challenges.

Through the Paralympic School Week initiative and an accompanying educators’ guide, hundreds of schools hosted paralympians as motivational speakers, planned mini-paralympic games, or organized creative activities and fundraisers.

The Canadian Commission for UNESCO, which operates under the aegis of the Canada Council, endorsed Paralympic School Week, presented by the British Columbia Ministry of Education, the Vancouver Olympic Committee and the Canadian Paralympic Committee.
